THE MASSACRED - Nightmare Agitators LP

There was immense wailing and gnashing of teeth. Boston, for most of hardcore punk's history, possessed arguably the world's most prolific, consistent and hardest scene, spanning every decade up until a recent fallow period that left many wondering what happened. Now though, LPs from LIFELESS DARK and THE MASSACRED have been bestowed upon us boors by Beantown in brisk succession. For my money, UK82 is a style that works best in 7" form. DISCHARGE is the prime example. Easily some of the best EPs ever created but LPs that eventually draw stale even when the songs are good individually. I think that holds somewhat true here but I do love how this record sounds - particularly the drums - and I think there's enough variation in the approach to keep you pumping your first for the full 25 minutes. I especially like tracks 4 and 12 that feel like they tap more into the CHAOS UK influence.
