TOWER OF ONE - INVISIBLE FENCE

I got to see this band in their home base of Providence recently without having heard them previously and they rocked a NECROS cover. I don't think that early Midwest style is totally off the map from how their music sounds. But I hear stronger cues from UK hardcore from around the same time period (ala the CHAOS UK LP), particularly in some of the stompier tracks like "Ripped Off" and with the steady diet of pogo beats throughout most of the tape. It's a cleaner overall sound than that though, as the guitar tone isn't nearly as abrasive or crunchy and the solos more polished and tonal. Some of the mid-tempo parts remind me of those you'd associate with the Cleveland scene of the late 90's/2000's even though they don't hit the unhinged, chaotic speeds of a band like H-100s. Idk. This is a longer post already and I don't think any of those reference points quite hit it on the head. It's good hardcore punk that to my ear is rooted in 80s UK stuff but isn’t confined to it.

Fav track: "Revelations"
FFO: early 80s hardcore
